Chase Allen can make anything grow—except a love match.
Running his small-town nursery keeps him busy but grounded. Every seed planted is like a fresh start—a way to honor the legacy he inherited and focus on the future instead of the heartache he buried. But all of that changes the moment she returns to Sterling Mill. Anna, his high school sweetheart, the girl who broke his heart and disappeared, has returned, and it feels like someone’s ripped up his carefully tended world.

Anna Washington thought she could always return home—until she tried.
Widowed, wary, and wrecked, she’s a far cry from the confident, fiery girl she once was. Life has knocked her down more times than she cares to admit, and now she’s just trying to piece herself back together. When Chase offers her a job as his housekeeper, she hesitates, but with nowhere else to turn, she reluctantly accepts. Living under his roof is a constant reminder of everything she once dreamed of. Yet, as old feelings resurface and new opportunities bloom, Anna wonders if she might finally find the strength to stand on her own.

Together, Chase and Anna navigate the tangled roots of their history. Maybe it’s a shot at closure. Maybe it’s a chance to become friends again. Or maybe—just maybe—they can still Call It Love.

REVIEWCALL IT LOVE (A STERLING HILL NOVEL) BY M.E. MONTGOMERY

Call It Love: a small town, 2nd chance romance (Sterling Mill Series Book 5)

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Love with feeling. Emotion jumps off of every page and sets fire to the heart. Call it Love is a salutation to the resilience of the humor spirit. Montgomery speaks from the soul with Chase and Anna. From broken hearts to second chances, there is beauty within these pages that cannot be contained.

EXCERPT

“I missed having a farm sink with a big window,” I murmured. “But I guess it didn’t matter since I didn’t have to do any dishes anymore.”

“Oh?”

I felt the heat creep up my neck. Chase made me nervous. Or maybe it was that I was comfortable. That was even more dangerous.

“Mason insisted I was not to interact with the…help.” My nose wrinkled at the last word. I’d never thought of the staff members as beneath me, but Mason did. And he made sure I understood the rules.

Chase’s lips twitched. “Feel free to wash any dishes while you’re here,” he teased.

I let myself smile. A real one. “I guess we’ll have to get some dirty, then.”

For a fleeting second, it felt like a decade hadn’t passed between us. But then reality came crashing back.

“Not that I’ll be here long enough to create any. Of course, I’ll wash what I use, but—”

“Anna…”

“I mean, obviously I can’t stay, I just—”

“Anna.”

I snapped my eyes to his, semi-frozen by his tone.

Of course, he noticed it, and immediately he relaxed his stance. “You’re welcome here. I mean it.” His voice was gentler now, but his eyes held steady. “But why are you here?”

“I told you. I startled a deer and ran off the road.”

“Why were you out in that weather?”

I hesitated. “I was going to my parents.”

His jaw flexed. “Bullshit, Anna. You were headed away from their farm. Why do I sense there’s more to the story than what you’re telling me? Are you in trouble?”

My hands began to tremble. I forced them to cross in front of me, pressing them tightly against my ribcage.

“Did something happen? Are your parents okay?”

I opened my mouth, but nothing came out. Jack let out a soft whine and pushed his head underneath my palm, his fur warm and soft beneath my fingers. Chase watched me carefully, his expression unreadable.

“You’re safe here,” he breathed. “Trust me.”
