ALL THAT'S UNSPOKEN (SUNNYDALE DAYS) BY CONSTANCE PHILLIPS

SYNOPSIS

After eight years, Hailey is back in Caseville, Michigan. Just months after her mother’s death, her siblings want to put their father in a nursing home and rent out the family farm. If that wasn’t enough, the prospective tenant is Nate, the high school crush she left behind the day after they acted on their mutual attraction.

After high school, Nate Jenkins planned to leave small town behind, but life dealt him a different hand of cards. He’s now back in Caseville, raising his daughter and running his family’s diner. His daughter’s speech disorder has been improved by therapeutic horse riding and if he can lease the old Lambert farm, he can get her a horse of her own. The only thing standing in the way is Hailey, the same woman who left him eight years ago without even saying goodbye.

Can they get over all that’s unspoken between them?

REVIEW:  ALL THAT'S UNSPOKEN (SUNNYDALE DAYS) BY CONSTANCE PHILLIPS

All That's Unspoken (SunnyDale Days, #1)All That's Unspoken by Constance Phillips

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What originally drew me to All That's Unspoken is that it takes place in my home state of Michigan. That may have been the instant appeal, but it turns out that Hailey and Nate were a life lesson. Ms. Phillips tackles subjects that are as heartbreaking as they are relate-able. Subjects like loss, grief, the dynamic drama of family and the hard choices like risking the heart and letting go of the past. Both Hailey and Nate have a great deal to lose but even more to gain, if they grab hold of the second chance fate has bestowed upon them. A beautifully presented circle of life tale that aims for the heart and scores a bulls-eye shot.

All That's Unclaimed (SunnyDale Days, #2)All That's Unclaimed by Constance Phillips

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Even small town living can have big city problems. Ben is a bit bratty, a lot stubborn and as frustrating as all get out. It's easy not to empathize with his behavior, but I get it. In a short period of time Ben lost his mother, his father is slipping away and as his is breaking on the verge of losing everything he holds dear. Visually, it's easy to see why he's falling apart. Although emotions are a complication, he doesn't deal well with, there are instances where he can almost be empathetic. That's what I adored about Anna, she brought out a side of him that was well hidden but needed to see the light. The Sunnydale Days series is shaping up to be a wonderful introduction to Constance Phillips for me.

ALL THAT'S UNREALIZED (SUNNYDALE DAYS) BY CONSTANCE PHILLIPS

SYNOPSIS

It’s what the doctor ordered for Rhonda Gables, owner of three successful boutiques: four weeks of rest between winning this season’s Retail Project and claiming her prize. Rhonda must decide if being a TV reality show star is worth leaving behind her loved ones, including the increasingly appealing Trevor Collins.
***

In a month, fashion mogul and reality TV judge Conrad Ryse, of The Retail Project fame, has promised to take Rhonda Gables under his wing and invest in her fledgling career. That’s her grand prize after a winning season on his show. Too bad exhaustion has sent Rhonda out of her city apartment, away from her three successful boutiques, and into her cousin’s guest room for a month of recuperation in her hometown.

She’s on the cusp of everything she’s ever wanted, but what will it cost? Doctor’s orders be damned, she balks at first. But soon Rhonda is both delighted and disconcerted by the attentions of her friend-maybe-lover, Trevor Collins, and the contentment she is surrounded by back home. She must realize all she’s willing to compromise and all her heart truly desires.

Life slows down for no one. We have to take the time and effort to take a break from the whirlwind of it all. Both series and author are good at delivering much needed advice in a heartwarming but totally nonjudgmental way. Rhonda has the chance of lifetime laid out at her feet but will it all turn out to be too much? Or will it lead her to the place she really belongs? Life is fragile and so are we, therefore we have to appreciate it while we can.

Betty and Sam thought they had forever, but when trust becomes broken so does the heart. All That's Forgiven is a tale of redemption that begins with anguish but takes the characters and readers full circle by journey's end. What I adore about Ms. Phillips style of narrative is that she seems to be speaking right to me. From emotion to description, to application. Her words are right on point. Her characters are hard to resist and with each story I feel like I'm discovering something new. With each little piece of heart she takes, by journey's end she gives it right back to you. I love that!

All That's Unforeseen (Sunnydale Days, #5)

ALL THAT'S UNFORESEEN (SUNNYDALE DAYS) BY CONSTANCE PHILLIPS

SYNOPSIS

Sunnydale Days - Book 5

Hearts, horses, and healing

Knowing how the story ends doesn't mean there aren't wonderful surprises along the way.

***

When her son was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy Marilynn Morgan knew how the story was going to end. What she didn't know was what life would bring her along the way. She didn't anticipate her husband leaving her or getting remarried a few years later. She didn't realize how lonely her life would become, and she certainly didn't expect to feel the way she did when her ex-husband's best friend, Eli Briggs, showed up to fix Joss's lift.

Back in high school, Eli fell head over heels for Marilynn, but when she started chasing his best friend he buried his feelings. Over the years, he silently stood by his friends through the good times and the bad. Now, three years have passed since Dan walked out, and Marilynn's late night call has him back in Marilynn and Joss's life--and is giving him a chance to rewrite a future he thought he knew.

All That's Unforeseen (Sunnydale Days, #5)All That's Unforeseen by Constance Phillips

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I keep a box of Kleenex close by with this series. Especially with Eli and Marilynn's roller-coaster romance. All That's Unforeseen is a story of triumphant, courage and no matter how many teardrops may fall is a powerful beautifully written journey of hope. Morgan has experienced so many sucker punches, it's hard to keep count. From her son's devastating diagnosis, to her louse of a husband, my heart broke for her. Yet the beauty of the lesson is that she discovered that she was stronger than even she knew and her trails led her to where she was meant to be.
