The Billionaire's Private Scandal had a strong start but the race to the finish line stalled. The constant back and forth, gave me a touch of whiplash. I wish the main characters had worked things out sooner.

The Malory series is how I discovered Johanna Lindsey. She was one of the first authors I read where the women were as essential to the action as their male counterparts. At the time, there were not many historical romances with heroines who would risk walking into danger and rescuing themselves. Ms. Lindsey broke ground in that aspect. To this day there are less damsels in distress and more fearless lionesses. Beautiful Tempest keeps that legacy going with a suspenseful, adventurous tale of danger, family and romance. It felt like catching up with friends. Now a little bit older and a whole lot wiser, I'm as in love with those rowdy Malorys and feuding Andersons as the day I met them.

Christina McKnight has immense talent. The shining beacon of that gift is her ability to create great characters. Characters that stand out above and beyond the words on the page. Heroes and heroines that come alive with their personalities as they lead stories of courage and heart. The Misadventures of Lady Ophelia fits that mold. Ophelia has the distinction of being slightly bookish in personality but never lacking in heart. The death of a friend changed her life. Guilt drove her, but love saved her. That one event set her on a course that lead her to her soulmate and brought her out of her reserved shell and into the risky venture of life. The danger is not only in the mystery that pulls her deeper into the dark, but in the uncertainty that comes with listening to her heart. These Undaunted Debutantes are loyal, fierce and intoxicating. With the series as a whole Ms. McKnight not only conjured up a dynamic and captivating trio, she also spotlighted how beautiful it is to be unique.

The first Sullivan stole my heart and those Maverick Billionaires staked a claim on my soul. However, I've realized neither hold a candle to the citizens of Summer Lake. The classics meet modern fairytales. Ms. Andre has a talent for blending these two styles and hitting the JACKPOT, more often the not. The central ingredient is the heart. She builds her stories about what makes us most vulnerable. Our emotions! That's why her stories are easy to relate to and hard not to fall in love with. Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You is a triple threat. The atmosphere is inviting, the characters are enticing and the tale, itself is breathtaking. We all dream of finding a love that endures. For a little girl the experience begins the minute we open our first fairytale. For men, it may take a bit longer and be hidden much deeper, but the feeling is still there. But will we take the risk? In my opinion that's what makes a Bella Andre novel so special. It appeals to the dreamer in us all.

My genre of choice is romance and although I enjoy all types, my preference has always been historical. Mad for the Marquess is definitely historical. However, Ms. Russell takes a darker direction with her tale. Conspiracy, murder, danger and intrigue are always a haunting combination, but from within the depths of tragedy and despair, something beautiful grows. A love that knows no bounds and will risk everything to conquer the evil. Devlin and Anne light the spark that ignites the flame to burn through the hopelessness that is intent on keeping them apart. Their love singes through the obstacles and empowers their faith as it slowly thawed this reader's heart.
