#Excerpt
“Henley?” Elodie asks, face down on the carpet, snapping me out of the transfixed state I’m in.
Fuck, she’s perfect. Round globes, silky white skin, and a tattoo of a heart just above her right butt cheek.
Jesus Christ. I could lick that ink. Dainty tattoos are so fucking sexy.
“Henley!” she says louder this time.
“Yeah?”
“My towel. I’m, uh…”
“Shit.” I turn away from her, facing the opposite direction. “I’m not looking. You can get up now.”
Groaning, she says, “Oh my God. This is so embarrassing.”
My eyes drop down to my cock getting hard in my pants, the flimsy fabric doing nothing to hide how my body is reacting to seeing her half naked.
“It’s fine.”
“Yeah, easy for you to say. You’re not the one that just flashed your boss your bare ass.”
Fuck. Stop picturing it, Henley.
“I didn’t see anything,” I lie.
“Yeah, sure,” she scoffs as I hear the sound of her coming up from the floor. Her heavy breathing fills the silence between us until she says, “Okay. I’m decent.”
Reluctantly, I twist around slowly to face her, and if I thought her ass was beautiful, it has nothing on her face fresh from the shower. “You okay?”
She brushes her wet hair from her face. “Nothing is hurt except my pride, fortunately.”
Chuckling, I say, “You have nothing to be embarrassed about.”
Arching a brow, she crosses her arms over her chest. “I thought you didn’t see anything?”
“I didn’t. I mean…”
She pinches the bridge of her nose, closing her eyes. “I’m mortified, Henley.”
“Again,” I say, dipping my eyes down her body and then back up, secretly loving the way her cheeks are pinker than I’ve ever seen them, “Nothing to be ashamed of.”

Being a nanny for a newly single dad wasn’t the job I applied for when I decided to lick my wounds in Blossom Peak.
But showing him my bare backside wasn’t in my plans either.
When the pursuit of my dream career seemed unattainable, instead of going home and proving my parents right, I made a detour to the small mountain town I remember visiting as a kid.
I just wanted a waitressing job to make some extra money while I figured out my next steps.
But then the lumberjack of an owner begged me to help him with his three month-old daughter that he just found out existed, and I couldn’t resist his plea.
Or his massive physique—the one I saw every detail of when he appeared shirtless in front of me three times in the first week.
The problem with living together though is there’s little space, especially when my boss is so closed off that he’s like a nut I want to crack open.
And when I do, he steals the breath from my lungs—and reignites my creativity as well.
But I gave myself a deadline to figure out what’s next.
Nowhere in that plan though did I account for falling for Henley Clark.
Turns out the heart doesn’t care, even when you’re on borrowed time.

REVIEW: ON BORROWED TIME (BLOSSOM PEAK #2) BY HARLOW JAMES
Meet Harlow James:
Steamy Romance Author
Harlow James is a pen name I use to protect my identity as a high school teacher. Keeping those two roles in my life separate is necessary, but also fun! It’s like a live two lives, and anonymity gives me the opportunity to be bold and take risks in my stories.
I stumbled upon romance novels in 2018 when I picked up Driven by Kristy Bromberg, and I was obsessed. I had just lost my grandmother too, so reading offered me an escape from reality and a chance to grieve on my own terms.
About a year later, I got an idea for my own book and started writing. I researched self-publishing and jumped in with both feet. I had no idea what I was doing!
But now I’ve built a business and hobby that I LOVE! I have an outlet that’s just for me. When I write, I’m not a mom, a wife, or a teacher…I’m a woman who gets to tell stories that no one else can.
My books are the perfect blend of heartwarming moments, full-bellied laughs, and PLENTY of steam to melt your Kindles 😉 And there are always elements of me sprinkled in to every character and story that I write.
When I’m not writing you can find me reading or spending time in my kitchen. I love to cook and feed my family and friends. Otherwise, you can find me watching comedy specials with my husband, camping with our kids, or taking naps. I live for naps 😉

#Excerpt
The storm rattles the windows. The lighthouse beam sweeps. Somewhere in town, a transformer pops, and the lights flicker once.
We don’t move.
“I’m scared,” she says suddenly, voice barely above a whisper.
I squeeze her hand. “Of what?”
She takes a shaky breath. “Of losing you again. Of… getting this wrong. Of giving you all my pages and finding out you only wanted the highlight reel.”
I swallow hard. “Bailey,” I say, my voice rough. “I’ve already seen the messy chapters. I was there for some of them, remember?”
Her laugh is watery. “You caused a couple.”
“Yeah.” The word tastes like regret and hope. “And I’ve spent a long time trying to figure out how to be worthy of a second read.”
She stares at me for a long moment, like she’s weighing something big and breakable in her hands.
Then she shifts closer, swinging a leg over my lap in one smooth, hesitant motion, settling down so she’s straddling me.
My hands fly to her hips on instinct, fingers flexing against the denim. My brain short-circuits.
“Bailey,” I rasp.
“I’m choosing,” she says, eyes steady on mine. “I get to do that, remember?”
“Yeah,” I manage. “You do.”
She cups my face again, thumbs brushing my cheekbones. “Then let me.”
Her mouth finds mine, slow and deliberate, and this time there’s no tentative edge. No testing. Just the quiet, fierce certainty of a decision made and remade.
I kiss her back, pouring all the words I don’t trust myself to say into the press of my lips, the angle of my jaw, the way my hands tighten on her waist like she’s the only solid thing in a world that keeps shifting.
Her fingers slide into my hair, tugging gently, and a sound escapes my chest I wouldn’t recognize on a replay. She swallows it with a soft, desperate noise of her own.
The storm rages outside. Up here, the world narrows to the couch, the heat of her thighs bracketing my hips, and the taste of chocolate and peppermint on her tongue.
She breaks the kiss first, breathing hard, forehead resting against mine. “Crew,” she whispers. “I want—”
At First Play is a slow-burn, banter-filled, small-town romance about forgiveness, falling again, and finding the one person who feels like home—no matter how far you’ve run.

#Excerpt
“Have a good night,” I call after her, struggling to make my own feet move over the smooth carpet and away from this beautiful creature.
I’m aware I have somewhere to be, and she is headed in the opposite direction, presumably to her hotel room.
Is this what is meant when worlds collide but ricochet into the night?
Maybe it’s more like that elusive moment. A brief glance. A possible chance.
And then the moment is gone.
She spins to face me one final time, walking backwards and holding up the book, waving it gently in the air. Her mouth slowly curls, and she digs her teeth into her lower lip again. “I will,” she says in response to my wishing her a good night. “The story just reached an unexpected plot twist.”
She winks and turns away from me one final time.
With heat in my cheeks, I shake my head. She was definitely flirty with me.
And if I didn’t have a commitment, I might ask her if she’d like to grab a drink.
Instead, I resolutely spin in the opposite direction, edging closer to the elevator bank with every step. When I reach the short hallway, I pause, giving her one last glance.
Wondering if I’m about to walk away from an unexpected plot twist.
Quiet. Serious. Protective. All words Stone Sylver would use to describe himself. And yet, something in his classic blue eyes said he was so much more. Buried beneath the years of raising his younger siblings and being a small town sheriff was a man looking for love.
Of course, I didn’t get all that the first night we met. The night we did a one-two step in a hotel hallway and knocked heads. The same night we shared a sweet potato cupcake and a single kiss.
Why didn’t we share more? The moment became a great mystery to me and because I thought he was only a brief interlude in my wanderlust life, I wasn’t prepared to see him again in Sterling Falls.
Visiting the small town where I once lived, I learn the man who I witnessed act like a superhero was more entwined in my past than I’d remembered. And for a woman often afraid of a future, I suddenly craved one…with him. Which made no sense as I’d never stuck in one place before. No one had ever asked me to stay.
Then again, from our first encounter, I knew Stone Sylver was different.
