Duff has always been the guy women run to after heartbreak. He’s a pleasant distraction. A safe place to land before they move on. He tells himself he’s fine with that. He has to be.
But Emmy was never supposed to be one of them.
When her marriage implodes and the life she thought she knew crumbles around her, Emmy has nowhere else to go. So she moves in with Duff—temporarily. Just until she gets back on her feet.
She tells herself she doesn’t need anyone.
He tells himself he’ll settle for being her friend.
Living under the same roof makes it harder to ignore the truth: the man she once misjudged is patient, steady, and everything she didn’t know she needed.
And for Duff, sharing a home with the woman he’s loved for years is equal parts heaven and torture—because for the first time, she’s single… and finally within reach.

REVIEW: THE BACK-UP PLAN (BAYWOOD HOSPITAL) BY GREENLEIGH ADAMS
#Excerpt
When I twisted the knob and pulled on the door, the woman on the other side of the threshold wasn’t my sibling.
The air evaporated from my lungs with my single gasp of shock.
A broken version of Emmy stood before me in a sweater that showed the bare skin of one of her shoulders and jeans that fit to her tall, slender form, showcasing her feminine curves.
“Why don’t you shamelessly flirt with me like you do with every other woman within a hundred-foot radius?” Her brown eyes met my gaze searching for something.
“Because you shouldn’t be treated like everyone else. You’re special and should be treated like the treasure you are.”
A seductive smile tugged at her lips and her posture relaxed. “Can you please make me forget just for tonight like any other woman?”
Of course I knew how to do her bidding, but there was no way I’d treat her like any other woman that ever warmed my bed.
If one night was all I’d ever have with her, I couldn’t pass up this once in a lifetime opportunity to show her how much she means to me. Besides, this is what I was good at. I could make a woman feel beautiful and wanted when she thinks she’s broken.
