Can't make time for love?
The Shaughnessy brothers have spent the years since their mother's untimely death taking care of each other and trying to make their father proud. Oldest son Aidan is hard-working, handsome, successful-and still single. Sure, he'd like to have his own family someday, but who has the time?
She'll show him how to find it
Zoe Dalton, a stunning designer Aidan meets on one of his construction jobs, has the beauty and heart to make Aidan realize how much he could be missing. But it's not easy to break down walls you've spent years building up. Now there's a major storm bearing down on the North Carolina coast, and it could be catalyst enough to force Aidan and Zoe into some major decisions of the heart.
For one long moment, Aidan could only stare at her. Her face was devoid of makeup and if anything, she looked more beautiful than he’d ever seen her. Her eyes were brighter and even though he knew that she’d been crying, and with good reason, the sight of her simply took his breath away.
She whispered his name and it snapped him out of his trance.
He had meant to ask how she was doing; his sole intention for getting up and approaching her had been to make sure that she was okay. But now?
“You are so damn beautiful,” he said softly, slowly lifting his hand and skimming his fingers along the soft skin on her face. Her eyes slowly closed and her lips parted on a sigh. His other hand came up and caressed her other cheek. He marveled at the softness of her skin and smiled at the faint line of freckles that went across her nose, things that were lost to him when he was forced to keep his distance.
Time seemed to stand still and it didn’t matter that a storm was raging outside or that they had been fighting with one another for weeks. The only thing that mattered right now was Zoe. It would have been so easy to just lean forward, to just press his lips to hers, but Aidan was never one for going the easy route.
Zoe opened her eyes and almost melted. Aidan’s eyes, so deep, so blue, were looking at her with a passionate intensity that she had never seen before. His hands, hands roughened from years of work, touched her with infinite gentleness. They traced her cheeks, then her chin and slowly skimmed down the column of her throat; her entire body cried out for the same attention.
She wanted more and she needed to know that Aidan was aware of what he was doing, that he wasn’t going to pull away. Reaching up, she placed her hands on his and stilled his movements. “What are we doing?” she whispered. The smile he gave her in return finished the job of melting whatever parts of her were holding out.
“If you have to ask, then maybe I’m not doing it right.” Leaning his head down toward hers, Aidan stopped when there was barely a breath between them, his lips almost touching hers. “I’ve wanted to do this since I first saw you touching the flowers outside the model home.”

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
New York Times and USA Today Bestseller/contemporary romance writer Samantha Chase released her debut novel, Jordan's Return, in November 2011. Although she waited until she was in her 40's to publish for the first time, writing has been a lifelong passion. Her motivation to take that step was her students: teaching creative writing to elementary age students all the way up through high school and encouraging those students to follow their writing dreams gave Samantha the confidence to take that step as well.
When she's not working on a new story, she spends her time reading contemporary romances, playing way too many games of Scrabble or Solitaire on Facebook and spending time with her husband of 25 years and their two sons in North Carolina.
