Jax opened the door, and immediately emptied his lungs. It felt like someone had punched him straight in his gut, forcing all the air out of his body, as he stared at his wife.

At least, he thought it was his wife. It looked like her, mostly, except it was Esther as he’d never seen her before.

The only time she’d worn this much make-up had been for their wedding day, and she hadn’t had those dark, smoky eyes or a bright red lip. Her hair was down, some of it hanging over one shoulder and nearly touching the lacy top of her bra. The black lace
over her creamy skin made it clear that there was nothing behind the lace. Nope. He could see right through it.

She looked like a sex kitten, complete with the pose, and Jax had to blink several times to make sure he wasn’t hallucinating. Esther smiled.

“Welcome home.” Even her voice was a little different, lower and smoother. What the hell was going on?

“Well, hello.” He finally got some words out, giving his head a little shake as he tossed his jacket and tie onto the dresser, kicking the door shut behind him. “You look amazing.”

She did, even though he wasn’t sure he liked the new look. But Jax knew better than to say that out loud. If she liked it and it made her feel good, that was what mattered. Him feeling like she didn’t look like his wife… Those words sure as hell weren’t going to pass his lips.

Stepping forward, he ran his gaze over her body appreciatively. Not his favorite kind of lingerie, but hey, lace was lace and he could appreciate Esther in anything.

“Thank you.” Real relief was in her voice and eyes, and he realized she wasn’t as sure of this new look as she was pretending to be. So why had she done it? Because he knew this must have been what she and Jen had been up to this evening. He doubted Esther had asked their daughter to help her pick out lingerie, but definitely the make-up…

“Is this all for me?” he asked, putting his hands on her waist and running them up and down her sides. His cock stirred with interest.

Damn. When was the last time they’d had sex? It had been a while.
