The road less traveled leads to treasures unparalleled. At one time Laura had it all. Living the high life this "It" girl wanted for nothing. Now with her life falling apart she returns to the place she took for granted and that may hold the key to the happiness she's been looking for. Paul seems to be living the perfect life. Happy, fulfilling and simple, but looks can be deceiving. Everyone has secrets. I received an ARC of Laguna Lights in exchange for an honest review. With Paul and Laura's story, Ms. Rouda drove home the point that happiness is not derived from how much a person materially has but the wisdom and experiences gained from the life one lives. I am enjoying the Laguna Beach Series but Laguna Lights is my favorite story to date.

Kaira Rouda had an interesting idea when she decided to center her new series Laguna Beach around former cast members of a teen reality show. Laguna Nights is the kick-off book to the series. It examines the past and present relationship between Josh and Madison. Josh was the breakout star, the one to watch on the show. Madison was his love interest on the show. Madison dealt with low self confidence and a heartbreaking betrayal while on the show.

 

Josh in recent years has lost his appeal. Madison has spent her years since the show ended trying to live down Josh's betrayal on the show. What made Laguna Nights a compelling read is the way Kaira Rouda told the story. The story was centered around former teen stars dealing with adult problems from an early age. Fame, pain, betrayal, heartache, self esteem, trust and growing up. Maturity brought on a whole new set of problems including unresolved emotions from the past. This is a different take on a coming of age story that is no less deep but twice as entertaining.

Annie was trapped within a prison that she created to escape the events of the past. Her predicament angered me because she didn't deserve the fall out she had to endure because she trusted the wrong person. The seriousness of this story is evident from the first page. One devastating event led to a spur of the moment the decision that could topple her whole world. Laguana Heights is gripping, heartbreaking and triumphant. I received an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review. A stunning piece of fiction that lingers on after the last page.

With feel good stories, enchanting characters and wonderful authors A Gentleman for All Seasons has the makings of a magical holiday read. I received an ARC of this anthology of heartbreak, regret and live in exchange for an honest review. Each author puts a unique spin on the obstacles that are faced when matters of the heart are involved.

Kate Noble- A Madness in Spring turns childhood rivalry into a heartwarming love story.

Shana Galen- The Summer of Wine and Scandal encourages looking beyond the surface and into the heart to discover someone's true worth. Ms. Galen's story of redemption and forgiveness is sweetly written.

Theresa Romain- Regret, heartbreak and second chances may prove rewarding in Those Autumn Nights.

Vanessa Kelly- A surprising turn of events may prove to be just what two introverted hearts need in The Season for Loving.

I am so glad I decided to take a chance on this series.  When Melissa Foster said that this series would be sexier, bolder and more provocative than her other series, I was somewhat apprehensive.  There was no reason to be.   The Wild Boys lived up to the name of course.  They are alpha males on the hunt for women who can love their sensuous side, dominant personalities, help them through the dark times in life and appeal to the sensitive side they possess.  These brothers have good hearts and care about family and their women.  Classic Melissa Foster with more heat.  A well written series.

Melissa Foster always delivers. No matter what direction she explores- there is always a story that leaves a mark with her readers. That is the true symbol of a great writer. Stella has uprooted her life to protect herself from someone she should never have trusted. Logan is dark, handsome and dangerous. Neither trust easy and are used to counting on themselves. In Logan, the characters are rougher, the situations are grittier and the language is harder. This series will take you places you never expect and introduce characters that are hard to believe. If Logan is anything to go by, I can't wait for the ride. I received an ARC of Logan(Wild Boys After Dark #1) in exchange for an honest review.

The conflicting emotions between the two main characters is central to the plot line of Nina Bruhns' Stop in the Name of Love. The chaotic aura of their relationship although interesting makes the story hard to follow. The personal struggles of Mary Alice also gives you insight into her as an individual character. All the things that make Russell off limits for her are what she likes most about him. I received an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review. Stop in the Name of Love is dark, hot and although a little puzzling it proves to be a good read.

Christmas in Silver Bell Falls by Samantha Chase

My rating: 4 of 5 stars


I purchased Christmas in Silver Bell Falls because I love to read Samantha Chase. After reading the synopsis I was not sure about this story. Didn't sound very interesting. As I started to read I became wrapped up in the characters. That happy feeling that you get when you open a surprise, that was what this book was for me. The holiday card setting, the perfect season and a little push from an unexpected hand made this an entertaining and fun spin on a holiday classic. Melanie made an adorable scrooge-like character and Josiah was a sexy wake-up call. Cute and sweet read.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

 

New York Times and USA Today Bestseller/contemporary romance writer Samantha Chase released her debut novel, Jordan's Return, in November 2011. Although she waited until she was in her 40's to publish for the first time, writing has been a lifelong passion. Her motivation to take that step was her students: teaching creative writing to elementary age students all the way up through high school and encouraging those students to follow their writing dreams gave Samantha the confidence to take that step as well.

When she's not working on a new story, she spends her time reading contemporary romances, playing way too many games of Scrabble or Solitaire on Facebook and spending time with her husband of 25 years and their two sons in North Carolina.

Christmas in the City is a labor of love. It celebrates many types. From secret crushes to matchmaking children. From second chances to new found romances. From the sexy and sweet to heartbreaking. There is something for every reader. This anthology has it all. For me it was hard to pick one story because so many great authors were involved. I would describe Christmas in the City as a smorgasbord for the senses. With all the variety, who needs to chose. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
