The Pirate's Tempting Stowaway by Erica Ridley

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Pirate's Tempting Stowaway was a departure from the previous books within this series. It was the heroine Clara who needed to be rescued from all the pain and anger that was going on within her life. I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review. I was not as into Blackheart as I have been her previous male titular characters but the one thing that I did like about him is that he unwittingly helped Clara wake up to the things she was taking for granted and gave her a better appreciation for who she was. The Pirate's Stowaway is a story that I believe needed to be told. The negativity in life has a way of influences future choices. It also builds courage and the ability to show empathy to others. Empowering story.

I liked Sarah. What I enjoyed the most about her was that she despite having the rug pull out from under her feet numerous ties she refused to allow others to dictate her life. She was a character that was full of surprises and that is what grabbed and held my attention. The anatomy of a great story at least for me is that it is engaging and hard to walk away from. This was those two things and more. I received a copy of The Brigadier's Runaway Bride in exchange for an honest review.

“Kat and I connected on every level from the moment we met, and even so, this is all so new to me that I was a goddamn nervous wreck this morning. I was worried that she’d changed her mind. That she’d look at my history with women and decide I wasn’t worth the risk.”

Hugh slung an arm over his shoulder. “Dude, you’re an amazing man. You must know that. Any woman would be lucky to be with you.”

“This isn’t about being lucky to be with me. I know my downfalls. You and I both know that I’ve never been a settling-down type of guy, but ever since I began thinking about the future, I’ve felt different. And Kat…Holy hell, Hugh. Kat? She’s the most intense, passionate, intelligent woman I’ve ever met. I finally understand how you fell for Brianna so quickly.”

“And Layla, man. I fell for them both. I love Layla like she’s my own flesh and blood.” Hugh gazed lovingly at his family a few feet away and took a few steps in their direction.

“I know you do. I have to tell you, I meant what I said this morning. I’m thinking more and more about settling down and having a family. And Kat just might be the oil in my gears. I was thrilled when she didn’t shy away from me during breakfast.” Kat looked up, and their eyes caught. Eric- Temptation with a capital "T".

Any reader of Hearts at Play will recognize Kat as Brianna's trusty friend who helped Brianna and Hugh on the speedway to love. Daring Her Love is Kat's story. Trying to turn over a new leaf has her twisted in knots. Wanting to find the happiness her friend has, she decides to get phase herself from impetuous Kat to look before you leap Kat. It doesn't take long for her to start to regret that decision. I received an ARC of Daring Her Love by Melissa Foster in exchange for an honest review. When I first opened the novella I thought it would be too short for it to live up to Melissa Foster's other reads. After having read it this format worked. I caught up with past favorite characters, met new attention grabbing ones, enjoyed a great story and was able to finished the novella in one day. All good when you're on the go alot.

Michelle Major is an author that I have had the pleasure of reading from a very young age. I read my first book by her at sixteen and have not looked back since. Throughout the years and her many stories she continues to mystify me with her moving stories. A Very Crimson Christmas is the most recent edition. I received a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review. The reason I enjoy reading books by this particular author is because there is always a connection that she creates between her two characters whether it be a volatile past relationship or a common acquaintance. That connection is what steers the direction of the story. Liam's trust issues played a part in coming between Natalie and himself the first go round. Will the problems that ended their relationship help them build a stronger bound? Or will mistrust, heartache and secrets ruin their second chance. There is a reason I continue to be a fan of Ms. Major, she appeals to the heart in any story she creates.

Shock.
Then more shock.
And then…aah…Gabriella melted into Zach. After all they had been through together, after everything they had talked about tonight, this was so not the way she envisioned their time together ending.
But she was completely on board with it.
For years she had dreamed about what it would be like for Zach Montgomery to kiss her and now that he was, she needed to stop talking to herself and start enjoying it!
Zach must have realized she was on board because his second crutch fell to the floor as his arms banded around her waist. Everything inside Gabriella melted at the heated contact. He was hard where she was soft and they just…fit. Her hands tentatively stroked their way up his muscular arms and then paused on his shoulders. It felt…naughty…to be touching her boss like this.
Wait…not her boss. Zach. She was touching Zach. Get your head out of the office, girl!
A low hum emanated from Zach and she let her hands slowly glide up the strong column of his throat—and stopped and lingered on his now clean-shaven jaw—and up into his hair. It was longer than he’d ever worn it but it was thick and silky and her fingers just sort of gently grasped and tugged to hold him to her.
If possible, Zach moved in even closer and Gabriella was thoroughly pressed from head to toe between him and the wall. His lips were devouring her but his arms stayed as they were—tightly banded and holding her close as if he was afraid she’d get away.
Not likely.
Right now, there wasn’t another place on the planet she wanted to be. Which was a bit ironic considering that less than a minute ago she wanted to be anyplace but here! Funny how fast things could change.
She struggled between needing to take a breath and never letting Zach’s lips leave hers again. As if reading her mind, he began to trail kisses along her cheek and her jaw. He nipped at her earlobe and then stopped to simply inhale her.
“Do you have any idea how long I’ve wanted to do this?” he growled lowly against her ear.
“Hopefully as long as I’ve wanted you to,” she openly admitted as she rubbed herself against him.
He chuckled softly. “The first time you walked through my door, I wanted to touch you. Kiss you.” His tongue lightly traveled down the side of her neck to her collarbone. “Make love to you.”
Gabriella trembled at his words. How was it possible she didn’t notice that? How had he kept it a secret for so long? And why? It was on the tip of her tongue to ask him, but he raised his head and gave her a very sexy grin before reclaiming her lips. There was no shock this time, just anticipation. Zach’s admission had pretty much done it all for her, she was putty in his hands.
She wanted to move, to get to a place where her back wasn’t pressed against a wall. But again, she didn’t want to stop what Zach was doing long enough to even say anything. Her nails raked his scalp and she felt the growl vibrate through him. She pushed her breasts more firmly against him, and felt his erection nudge her belly.
The wall was just fine.

I'll Be There by Samantha Chase

I was ecstatic when I found out that Samantha Chase was releasing a new Montgomery Brothers novel. This family is such a joy that it is no hardship to visit time and again. I'll Be There is Zach's story. Zach has been successful at whatever he touches. His personality, focus, looks and even his family name has opened doors but his ambition is the key to all of his triumphs. When larger than life Zach is forced down to earth after an accident he is anything but happy. Gabriella is a formidable match for Zach. She has worked hard to accomplish her achievements and has managed to do so despite the odds. Gabriella is no pushover. She speaks her mind. With I'll Be There Samantha Chase wrote a story full of triumph but she also introduced two characters afraid of letting anyone too close for fear of appearing weak. The lesson I took away from I'll Be There is that showing emotion is not weak. Emotions are a part of the maturity process that leads to a well rounded happy life. I received an ARC of I'll be There in exchange for an honest review. 10+ Stars.
