Midnight Rendezvous by Anya Summers
Available on all platforms
She is untouchable. Forbidden.
His best friend’s stunning, maddening, and deeply stirring younger sister has always been completely off limits. Asher has been fighting the clawing desire to touch her for years.
But when Emilia unexpectedly appears at his office with danger stalking her, he can’t say no.
She chose to ask him for help. For protection. Asher will shield her with both his body and his badge and suffer in agony as he keeps his hands to himself.
Yearning for her surrender, craving her passion, is wrong. He made a vow to her brother never to touch her, and he is a man of his word. A man of honor.
Emilia made no such promise. She craves Asher’s touch.
Even if the heat they generate incinerates them both.
“So, this acting like we’re together romantically… what are the parameters?”
Did this mean he was actually considering helping her?
She quashed the hope, keeping her face as serene as possible. “That we been seen entering and exiting the building together a few times, maybe some hand holding, the two of us walking to one of the nearby restaurants for dinner. That type of thing. I know we don’t like each other—”
“I never said I don’t like you.”
Could have fooled me.
She stared at him, unamused. “We’re not even remotely friends or friendly with each other. Never have been, in all the years we’ve known each other. Look, are you in, or not? If not, I need to find someone else I’m not related to, pronto. If I have to get a list of Dom club members from Sophia, I will.”
Surprised filtered over his features for all of two seconds. “What do you know about The Eros Pit?”
“More than my brothers would like me to, I can tell you that. It’s sexist, but whatever.” She wasn’t going to venture into the family drama revolving around her brothers and their never-ending quest to protect her virtue. As if she was still virginal at twenty-nine, and unable to take care of herself. They drove her batshit crazy with their Neanderthal, overbearing ways. She loved them. But when a girl had five older brothers who were all Dominants, they put the kill in the meaning of overkill when it came to trying to protect her.
“They’re trying to shield you.”
She snorted. “You mean they’re domineering, and act like I’m five years old, instead of an adult capable of handling things, whether it’s kinky sex dungeons, or ex-boyfriends turned into stalkers.”
He flashed a smile at her comment that left her shaken. Because when he smiled in that unguarded way, it took her damn breath away. “I’ll agree… on one condition.”
Her plan was going to work. She knew recruiting Asher was the ticket to getting a semblance of her life back. And yes, it meant that they were going to be in each other’s hair for a few weeks, but who cared when it would eliminate the Rick problem from her life? “What’s that?”
Asher leveled her with a direct stare. “If I feel that this stalker of yours is out of hand, not only will I make sure that local police are involved, but I will inform your brothers as well.”
It was a risk. And judging by his stance, Asher would not back down on this condition. Except, she was out of options.
“It won’t get out of hand.” But hadn’t it already gotten so far past normal that she was resorting to finding a fake boyfriend to make her ex go away?
