SPOTLIGHT: SAFE HOUSE UNIT(1-3) BY LESLIE NORTH.

READ AND REVIEW

SAFE AND SOUND (SAFE HOUSE UNIT) BY LESLIE NORTH

Release Date:  May 4, 2016

SYNOPSIS

Retired Army captain Max Sterling sees the world in black and white. Ever since his days in the military, it’s been his job to defend the innocent, and the Safe House Unit lets him do just that. But when he’s assigned to protect Adrien Baudin, a savage assassin prepared to testify against his mob boss employer, his moral code is shaken to its foundations.

Everything’s going according to plan until Lola Reyes, an innocent first grade teacher, enters the picture unexpectedly, bringing the unwanted attention of her policeman brother. She’s everything Max didn’t think he needed until now—beautiful, caring, and independent—and she’s packing a gun. Now Max has to keep both of them safe from a ruthless crime lord, while entering uncomfortably gray moral territory.

When he learns of a criminal conspiracy involving Baudin, Max has to go on the run to keep him—and the woman he’s falling for—out of danger. When justice and duty are at odds, he’ll have to choose sides in a game where the stakes are life and death.

REVIEW:  SAFE AND SOUND (SAFE HOUSE UNIT) BY LESLIE NORTH

My Rating:   3 of 5 stars

The shortest of the three, Safe and Sound is a quick read.  It had the adventure of the previous stories in the series, but lacked a strong female lead for me.  Lola came across whiny and naive. A follower.  Wanted to see more spirit and less gullibility. Max was the standard male lead.  He had a personality that was take charge and bred a sensuality that Lola noticed right away.  With a high predictability factor and an irritating protagonist (Baudin) this did not fill like a Leslie North novel to me.  I received an ARC of Safe and Sound in exchange for an honest review. It was good but I expected more.

START WITH THE FIRST TWO BOOKS OF THE SERIES.

IN SAFE HANDS (SAFE HOUSE UNIT) BY LESLIE NORTH

Release Date:  March 18, 2016

SYNOPSIS

He didn’t understand loyalty until she stripped it away…

Damian Stone was a distinguished member of the NYPD, on the fast-track to an FBI career until a crime syndicate ambush cost him his partner and his ambitions. Recruited by an elite security agency that leverages his hyper-protective instincts to shield notorious trial witnesses, Damian never met a charge he couldn’t safeguard.

Until her.

Alexa Volkov lived a privileged life, far from the messy underbelly of her father’s Russian mafia. As a crime boss daughter, she is in a unique position to collapse the organization from the inside out. Her plan to testify against the mob patriarch puts a bounty on her head that would tempt even the most trustworthy cop—especially one hell-bent on punishing her for the sins of her father.

But the safe house part of Damian’s protection plan is anything but safe. In a place where alliances are not what they seem and the most dangerous heat bearing down on them is the forbidden burn of seduction, the only thing more at risk than life is a lethal hit to the heart.

REVIEW:  IN SAFE HANDS (SAFE HOUSE UNIT) BY LESLIE NORTH

In Safe Hands (The Safe House, #1)In Safe Hands by Leslie North

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

In a world full of violence, revenge and secrets, one woman stood up and said no more. Was it smart? No. Courageous? Yes. It also proved to be a real turn on for the one man who could destroy her unstable house of cards. I received an ARC of In Safe Hands by Leslie North in exchange for an honest review. There is lots of conflict in this story. It's hard to tell who can be trusted. You have good people making stupid decisions based on emotion and crooked ones trying to protect themselves. Alexa proved to be a tough cookie facing anger from all directions and confronting her own mortality, she still found the strength to make right the wrongs of others. Throughout the story I bounced back and forth about my feelings for Damien. He made it so hard to like him. When he finally made the choice to listen to his conscience and not be fueled by his anger he became more tolerable. In Safe Hands is a fast paced and all over the place emotional story of bravery, redemption, temptation and emotion that will have a tight hold on you until the last page. A sexy love story. 4.5 of 5 stars.

REVIEW:  PLAY IT SAFE (SAFE HOUSE UNIT) BY LESLIE NORTH

Play It Safe (The Safe House Series Book 2)Play It Safe by Leslie North

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Leslie North is good at writing stories of fierce rogues with the eye of the tiger and the heart of a lion BUT now her stories are becoming more complex. Her female characters are starting to exude that same warrior spirit and will risk anything in the name of love. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Samson is a beast, his sensors always on high, prepared him to act at a moments notice. Angela is used to looking out for herself. It goes with the territory. However when her family is threatened her intellect and her heart will guide her into danger, recklessness and overdrive to come out the victor. Play It Safe by Leslie North is a heated race against time, Who will make it to finish line? 4.5 of 5 stars
